Laugh It Off 04:36
When I was young The world was big I let my choices take me where they would And finally, I looked up and found that I was writing songs They warned me that This life was hard They said the chance I’d make it big was small But I just laugh it off Though they mean well I know it’s enough If I had led a different kind of life I know my heart would want something more For not much can replace the rush of singing aloud and making a crowd believe in a moment In my short life I’ve come to see That songs can make joy last eternally So I’ll just laugh it off And carry on with what I love
2.
Well it must be a groove that tickles my side Lifts me up so high It must be that good ol’ jumpin’ ride I need that swingin’ rhythm That sound is grand if you understand I would not just stand by You couln’t keep me off my feet When I hear that swingin’ rhythm When the blues get too strong And the days get so long I need that music nice and loud And keep that rhythm swingin’ proud Oh it lifts my spirits, fills the room And I’m feeling so alive So sing along with this here song I need that swingin’ rhythm That big band sound turns me around The gypsy style brings me a smile Oh how that swing taught me to sing And it makes my life worthwhile How that music gets me high Brings tears to my eyes My hips are swayin’ side to side My lungs they holler high-dee-high It brings the people out tonight I need that swingin’ rhythm
3.
In Love 02:42
I’m in love, I truly am in love Before I didn’t really understand the meaning of This feeling isn’t clear, until you draw me near I couldn’t help but think that I’m in love I hold your hand, it’s got me feeling grand These simple words can’t emanate the warmth I have within Some poets bring a tear, but simple words my dear Are all that come to mind when you are near Why should I complicate the situation? Throw in all the adjectives I know I’d rather use the short and sweet To tell my man three words he’ll understand A sentence strictly made to show affection that is grand You shouldn’t hesitate, unless it’s your first date To spread your wings and say that I’m in love
4.
I want to pick up your socks and line up our shoes Fold all your laundry up and leave a note too I like to do the things I do The things I do I do for you I feed you frozen cherries, without the pits Give you all my kisses till I’m blue in the lips And all these things I do for you I brighten up when you call my name Oh how my cheeks turn pink on cue You’re oh so good to me my dear And, well, it helps that you’re a dreamy guy too You get me ice cold water in a glass for two You never miss a show of mine, you’re always so true So I can love you like I do Because I know you love me too I almost faint when I see your smile Oh how it fuzzes up my head You never let me leave without squeeze But then again we rarely leave your bed You’re kind and understanding You wouldn’t deceive He’s a perfect gentleman, you wouldn’t believe So I can do the things I do Because I know he loves me too
5.
Comfort 02:11
Can’t get out of bed, this pillow’s got my head Unwilling to set me free We have a deal, this pillow and me As long as it is soft I will lay in comfort This duvet insists that I stay So warm and cozy is she I don’t fight against it, got nothing to prove I’m hazy and lazy in comfort It’s not that I’m moping, no reason to cry No suffer or heartbreak, no tears in my eye This high thread count bedding is simply divine I’ve got nothing to do but bask in the sun The day turns to evening and I’m still in bed Living in dreamland, a place in my head Perhaps I will stay here until I am dead A life for me in comfort
